The Power of Curiosity

READ FIRST, THEN ASK

If I had to choose, I would rather be someone with a big curiosity than just a smart person without any interest in anything. Curiosity is the very first trigger why then we want to know something new which makes us giving our efforts to make ourselves understood about something by figuring it out. Unfortunately, most of us today just have (I would say) a “halfway” curiosity. We want to know, but we are not into paying the effort. I don’t know why maybe it is because we don’t really want to do it?

First of all, knowing something new is not just about we’re accepting information from others. In this very modern era, a lot of websites provide what we want to know. The only thing we need is just “READING” full-heartedly.

I am one of those who like to ask someone else, but I read first before I ask. Why? Because asking without a basic understanding means nothing. You know what I mean right?

Okay then, I’ll give you an exemplification for this case.

I was someone who really into having a scholarship, then, fortunately, I met one of the awardees. I was so happy because my dream felt like getting closer and closer to me. I was eager to know everything from her. The first thing I did was reading and make myself knowing what we’re gonna talk about. Even when I had read a lot, someone whom I asked for still recommended me to read more from websites first then asked her if anything couldn’t be understood. See... even when I had looked for what I want to know before I asked, it’s still not enough yet.

Then, what I felt at that time? Was I disappointed? NOT AT ALL...

I understand that everybody does have his/her own business. By replying to my texts, it means that she cares about me, and her suggestion to read more is not only to summarize her work to help me but also to give me broader information. Thus, someone who has ever made or experienced it is not the only source we can get the information as there are so many other sources explaining more in detail. Then, yeah it worked so well. Reading by myself feeds me with a thorough analysis of what I’m eager to know.

All in all, if we want to know about something, prioritize to read first because someones’ information is just a supplement. They are not in charge fully to make us understood but help us in certain parts we can't get it easily. Therefore, please, please, everyone. Do your research first before you ask, then you’ll make yourself easy to get the information besides helping someone you ask to not explaining the whole things which millions of people in the world had ever talked about it and written down the information on online webs.
