Being Nearly a Quarter Century
I like it I'm twenty five
nal miwohaneun geo ala [I know you hate me]
Ooh I got this I'm truly
fine
ije jogeum al geot gata nal… [I think I know a little bit
more]
Are any of you humming the
lines instead of reading it?
No worries, you’re not
alone, mate.
Those lines are inarguably
familiar to those who like K-pop. Those are some of the lyrics of one of IU’s
masterpieces featuring GD's ‘Palette’. I personally loved the song ever since
it was released back in 2017. Back then, I couldn’t really resonate with the
lyrics, but time flies, as if I blink then can totally relate to the song. How IU
describes what being 25 is like for me somehow feels like she tells how she
just started to get to know more about herself. She captures those simple
preferences that may not be accepted by others but those are her choices.
Then, GD comes in with a view from a 5-year older in seeing life. He portrays how being between 20-30 when we’re not again teenagers and not yet adults. I love that he says that is the time when we just need to be ourselves and keep searching. He encourages us not to worry about the future and reminds us that our journey is still a long way to go.
Never did I deeply relate to
any song lyrics, but this one really hit me in the 24th year of my life. This
song makes me think that it’s normal to be 25 while still searching for what we
really want to do and that it is okay to take our time to get to know more
about ourselves first to be able to live our life in out way. For me, that was
one of the most important things to do to live our life; not to rush just to be
lost.
I believe those of you my
age are facing relatively similar things. The paces may be different but the
phase is the same. As an early adult (by age) getting to know about society, we
are like babies trying to crawl on a land. We have to step on it with our
palms, knees, and lower legs to feel the texture, whether it’s rough, smooth,
or slimy. We can’t just look at it but feel it directly. Thus, taking time to
be able to feel all of them is reasonable. In our case, trying many things to
know what the best for us is never a wrong step.
I won’t write much and what
I expressed may be vague for those of you, but I just want to say, “YOU’RE NOT
ALONE”
There are SOOOO MANY people
our age and just like us they are passing through the grey phase to get a more
vibrant and clear sight.
That being said, let’s rock our twenties!!!
SEE YOU
