Learning My Own Self

Hello buddies, do you know yourself? Have you understood what you really want?

People my age will have a larger possibility to answer “No.”

Why?

Because learning ourselves is much harder than learning everything coming from outside. We find out new things every day, but we hardly talk to ourselves.

Learning myself here means a process I go through to know what I want and to understand what type of myself is.

Sifa, then why it matters?

In my humble opinion, to be the best in understanding ourselves is vital. We are the ones who are always with ourselves, we watch every second of our lives. By mastering ourselves, I think it will be easier for us to solve every single problem in our lives, especially when it comes to emotional problems.

To exemplify, people who know how to entertain themselves, they will recover from emotional pains faster than those who do not. For me, writing or listening to music is the best for expressing my emotion. Thus, every time I have a bunch of things in my mind making my head so heavy, I will either write it down or express it through songs’ lyrics.

At this age, people often feel empty, depressed, even despaired including me. We feel like sometimes the universe is too unfair toward us. We often think that we have no way out of problems. This is because we haven’t known exactly how to treat ourselves appropriately and how to behave toward particular problems.

Here, I’ll give you two main tips on how to learn yourself.

1.      Observe yourself

When I’m down, I usually take some time to talk to myself. I try to ask what myself eager to do, what things make me happy, what is my strengths, etc. What I do is trying to find the puzzle pieces to fulfill my empty self. Through this process, I get a multitude of knowledge about myself. I know what to do when I have a bad mood, I know what to do to recharge my energy, I know something that may destroy my mood, and many more. In other words, I find out a lot of things to deal with and cooperate with myself more easily.

2.      Read motivational or psychological books

Besides internal sources from your understanding about yourself, external sources from other beneficial knowledge in books also very helpful. I feel like finding out my psychologist who taught me how to behave or react to certain things appropriately. It may be because they apply psychological theories in their books, but one thing I’m sure of is that reading those books for me is healing. Those books make me have better emotional intelligence which then leads me to live more happily as a human being.

Well, in brief, learning my self is a process I go through to live more happily, easily, and properly by having good emotional intelligence. Therefore, I hope you guys also can do the same as me and have better life vibes!
